Significant clues into the behavior of micropiles subject to axial cyclic loading have been provided recently by the French National Research Program FOREVER. Similar research has been conducted by others investigating cyclic behavior of piles, ground anchors, drilled shafts and similar deep foundation technologies. These systems often need to be designed to withstand repetitive and/or cyclic loading throughout the service life of the structure they support and therefore must be designed for a serviceability state condition, which may include millions of cycles.
