Chapter 1. A review of the literature concerning the application and synthesis of enantiopure half-sandwich transition metal complexes and P-stereogenic phosphines is presented. These complexes have been successfully employed in a number of asymmetric syntheses and as stereochemical probes for mechanistic studies. More recently, enantiopure half-sandwich transition metal complexes have been employed as protein kinase inhibitors. These examples highlight the importance of such complexes and provide the background through which the results from Chapters 2-4 may be viewed.A: Chem. 2003, 198, 317.
